Buy, Buy, Buy!

March 2, 2010  |  Domaining  |  No Comments
The last couple of weeks have been relatively slow on the selling front, so I turned my attention to buying a few solid domains at great prices. I have also been shying away from quick flips that may yield a 5 to 25% return with the goal of building a stronger portfolio that will hopefully result in a few great sales.

I spent all of yesterday updating the domains section of Rural Technocrat as I have been receiving quite a few requests for my “domain lists” the last few months. If you are a domain buyer, I encourage you to check out my inventory and feel free to drop me an inquiry if you are interested in any of my assets.

Be sure to check out the domains section for the rest of the domains I have available for sale!

My First GreatDomains.com Auction

February 18, 2010  |  Domaining  |  No Comments

After a few months of acquiring higher-quality domains, I have decided to give Sedo’s GreatDomains.com auction a shot! The auction starts today, February 18th, at 12pm EST and runs for exactly one week. For this February installment of the GreatDomains auction I have the domain ZUY.net up for grabs with NO RESERVE! That’s right, a CVC.net domain with absolutely no reserve. Place your bids now!

Big Sales at Bido

February 4, 2010  |  Domaining  |  4 comments

You may be wondering why so many of my blog posts focus on selling domains at Bido. Well, the truth is that Bido has become my largest avenue for generating income.

This week at Bido has been a week of aged sales and the first strong dumping of .MX domains at very fair prices – fair for both buyers and sellers, in my opinion. There have been a couple of great bidding wars with solid buys/sells and plenty of new (well, to me at least) people bidding on domain names. I really feel that Bido is gaining traction, largely on the pre-bid front.

As far as myself this week, I had 23 domains listed from Monday to Thursday with 11 selling for a total sales value of $2074 with a more than healthy net profit. I have another 7 domains selling on Friday with 2 already receiving pre-bids that match, or exceed, the reserve. My goal for next week is to exceed reach a sales figure over $2500, yielding another healthy net profit.

Update on Bido VoteForProfits. I have now earned $187.43 just by voting for names I think will sell. Sure, a lot of domains I vote for do not sell, but I have been saving my Bido credits with the purpose of trading them for more voting points.

I really cannot write this post without, again, mentioning how strong the Bido support staff is when it comes to accommodating and communicating community members. Garrett Gilmore is not only quick to respond to my requests, he is also extremely polite and just oozes excitement about the Bido platform. On top of this, Jarred Cohen and Sahar Sarid are doing a great job promoting the platform and getting some deep-pocketed buyers at the daily auctions.

Here is a list of the best domains that I have for sale at Bido next week!
SOLD – 14 year-old quad-premium LLLL.com with a LOW reserve of $400! Bido CEO, Sahar  Sarid, recently posted regarding this name with his projection of it selling “well over $1000″.
SOLD – 10 year-old domain with a super-low reserve of only $150!
SOLD – A great keyword hoping to piggy-back on the success of .MX this week at Bido. Reserve is set at $100!

In the near future I am planning on auctioning off three pronounceable LLLL.com’s with reserves in the high $xxx range. On another note, I went a little crazy at NamePros and TDNAM today, so expect to see some more names at Bido in the near future – possibly more for next week!

Bido Vote For Profit Success and a Busy Week!

January 10, 2010  |  Domaining  |  1 Comment
If you have visited my site in the past, you most likely know that I am a big proponent of the domain auction site, Bido. Previously, I blogged regarding the Bido Vote For Profits program which, I believe, has been quite successful. I am happy to say that so far the Vote For Profits program has earned me $153.08 in pure profit with another $7 or $8 to come in once more transactions finalize. Sure, a lot of it was thanks to the $15K sale of Pepe.com, but the program is definitely working.

Tomorrow brings yet another major update to Bido – the Bido Guarantee program. The Bido Guarantee program allows sellers of domains to give first buying opportunity to high-profile and high-volume domain organizations. Check out the information page for more and be sure to check back tomorrow to see what all of the fuss is about!

I am happy to say that the lack of updates here at Rural Technocrat is thanks to a lot of buying and selling at Bido! I have had much success selling a few LLL.info’s and LLLL.com’s in the low-mid $xxx range over the last month and I am hoping this week brings me more success.

I would like to send a warm shout-out to the entire Bido staff. Sahar and Jarred for representing the organization so well on social platforms and truly taking the time to listen and share with the community, but I would like to send a MASSIVE shout-out to Garrett, who has to be the most polite, fast-acting and accommodating customer service representative I have ever dealt with!

Here is to 2010!!?

New Bido Release – BIN, Vote for Profits and More!

December 16, 2009  |  Domaining  |  1 Comment

If you have read my domain-related posts in the past you surely know that I am a big proponent of the domain auction site, Bido. As a buyer, I have bought a few dozen nice domains at great prices and as a seller I have had an excellent ROI. Well, I am happy to report that the Bido staff have significantly upgraded their site to include new features such as Buy It Now, BidoPrice, Vote for Profits, the ability to negotiate with buyers/sellers and an all-new, and more informative, listing layout across the tabs.

I would like to touch on my favourite new feature, Vote for Profits, so if you would like more detail on the other features check out Sahar Sarid’s post on his blog, Conceptualist.

For me, an active Bido user, the Vote for Profits feature is both appealing and largely unique. All members of the Bido platform are given 100 votes each month (more can be purchased with Bido credits) with which the member can award 1 to 3 votes to domain looking for the 10 necessary votes to make it to auction. Depending on when the votes are awarded, the voter is entitled to a share of the sale of that domain! This financial incentive to vote will not only encourage previous non-voters to participate, but it should also ensure that domains of quality are those that go to auction.

Of course, this wouldn’t be a Bido update with a little GUI streamlining! I am a big fan of the more informative and expandable method of listing all of the domains in each tab. Check out the screenshot below!

I would like to conclude by congratulating the Bido team on a job well done!
