L-L-L.com Domains

The best way to succeed in the world of domaining is to find your niche and stick to it. I have gone from the hand-reg world to analyzing drop lists and now searching auctions that take place at sites such as SnapNames and NameJet. It is easy to grab quality names at decent rates, but finding your end-user can be difficult without focus. For this reason I have shifted my focus to the world of L-L-L.com domains. L-L-L refers to domains that are LETTER HYPHEN LETTER HYPHEN LETTER (ie. A-L-D). L-L-L’s allow domainers with low budgets, such as myself, an opportunity to get into the game with short domains that have high end-user potential.

Why would someone want to buy an L-L-L when they could get the LLL? Well, the problem is that LLL’s of quality routinely sell over $15,000 while even some of the best L-L-L’s sell for under $3,000 – of course there are major exceptions in both markets. The best thing about L-L-L’s is that search engines treat them exactly the same as LLL’s. This means that a search for “T-B-S” yields the exact same results searches for “TBS”. Thus, from an SEO (search engine optimization) point of view they are nearly identical. Basically, L-L-L’s offer a great opportunity for business with smaller budgets to join the world of short domains.

I could go on about L-L-L sales, but one website, Bluebecker, offers great insight into the market and keeps track of some of the sales!

(Please note that while N-N-N’s do occassionally sell for reasonable prices, their market is not as strong due to a search for 5-0-6 yielding a result of -1 thanks to the built-in calculators on most search engines. The best thing going for N-N-N’s is their rarity.)
