First “Buy-it-now” Sale at Bargain Domains

August 24, 2010  |  Domaining  |  No Comments

First off, thanks to everyone for the positive feedback relating to my previous post on my success selling domains at BargainDomains.com!

This time around, I have another positive experience to report. One of my high-quality keyword .TV domains sold at the buy-it-now price at BargainDomains! The sale price is nothing to brag about, just low $xxx, but it was a decent sale at what I feel was a very fair price (I truly believe the domain would have gone for much more if it went to auction).

Again, the transaction could not have been smoother. The domain was marked sold at 1:34pm, payment was confirmed at 2:01pm, and ownership change was confirmed at 2:35pm. I am still awaiting receipt of the proceeds, but Francois is normally on the ball issuing payment. A big thanks to all parties involved on making this yet another positive experience.

To close off, I asked the buyer how the domain listing was found and guess what! It was my post here on Rural Technocrat! I will try to keep key listings posted here in hopes of making more easy sales.

CatastropheInsurance.com ($250 reserve, $1000 BIN) *7+ year old domain
HouseNumber.net ($70 reserve, $200 BIN) *11+ year old domain
OutdoorPub.com ($50 reserve, $200 BIN)

…and many more at BargainDomains.com!

Have a great evening everyone!

My BargainDomains.com Success!

Hey Everyone!

It has been quite a while since my last post – been a pretty busy summer up here in Ontario. Anyways, over the last couple of months I have only sold a handful of domains, but a good handful of these have been through Francois Carrillo’s BargainDomains.com.

By the numbers:
Bargain Domains6 domains sold
$539.41 invested in those 6 domains
$1254.80 profit AFTER commission
$715.39 in net profit
132.6% overall return

I should also note that all of the domains sold were purchased in mid-2010, giving a VERY healthy yearly return. Additionally, nearly all buyers communicated how very happy they were with the price they paid for the domains. As a bargain aftermarket shopper myself, it is great to pass along these deals while making a decent profit in return. What is even better is that the 132.6% overall return is not too unlike the 192% returned I received across 91 sales at Bido.

With the removal of listing exclusivity, premium member flexibility and the reduction to a 7% commission, I think BagainDomains.com is one of the best places to sell domains with a decent Valuate.com/Estibot.com appraisal. The after-auction service provided by Francois is quick and courteous while the listing manager is simple and to-the-point – ideal for any auction site.

Not only has Francois’ vertical marketplaces provided me with some solid auction sales, it has given me the opportunity to build relationships with my buyers. I have had post-sale communication with two buyers that have already resulted in another couple of mid $xxx sales. This is rarely achieved at such a marketplace.

Be sure to check out a couple of my notable domains listed at BargainDomains.com!

HybridEngines.com ($950 reserve, $1600 BIN)
Aucti.com ($500 reserve, $1000 BIN)
Sedans.info ($100 reserve, $450 BIN)
H***********.net  SOLD IN AUCTION
D*************.tv   SOLD THROUGH BIN!

Not to mention another 30+ more!

Selling Domains at eBay

June 30, 2010  |  Domaining  |  No Comments

Well, it has been quite a while since I posted last. I have been busy acquiring high-quality end-user domains, while ditching (errr…trimming) much of my lower-quality inventory. In the past, I have always had success selling average-quality reseller domains at domaining forums such as NamePros and DNForums; however, I have recently found these places to be quite dry with far too much negotiation for names selling under $50. As an alternative, I figured it was time to start selling at eBay!

As most eBay transactions are completed under a veil of secrecy, I have heard horror stories from sellers where the buyer claims non-receipt of the domain with PayPal refunding their money – seller loses domain without getting paid. While this does happen, eBay domain auctions do receive quite a few views from potential buyers. As I was looking to sell domains for under $25, I figured this venue would be safe enough for me.

So far I have successfully “ditched” a bunch of LLLL.com’s (most of these went above what I was expecting), most of my premium .CC portfolio (again, most have gone well above what I was expecting) and a handful of ill-registered .info domains near expiry. So far, I have had about 95% of my domains sell (I always set reasonable reserves, if any at all) with 100% transaction completion! Methinks trimming my portfolio will continue at eBay! Now it’s time to test the market response for aged domains.

Tips for selling at eBay

  • Set a fair reserve, if at all! Let the market decide what your domain is worth. Sure, you can play around with higher reserves, but consider what you would pay for the domain yourself. Besides, previous bids attract new bidders!
  • Provide clear and concise details on your domain (age, registrar, create date, expiry, etc)
  • Quick transactions – as a frequent buyer, I love nothing more than those 5 minute eBay transactions

Be sure to check out my eBay inventory for some potentially GREAT deals!

BargainDomains.com – My Experience

May 25, 2010  |  Domaining  |  No Comments

It has been approximately a month, but I have finally sold my first domain through BargainDomains.com! Sure, the sale was only for $60, but this represented over a 200% return on investment. When it comes to completing the transaction, I must say that Francois Carillo, of Domaining.com infamy, is extremely organized and very professional. Once the domain was sold, Francois quickly collected payment and then provided me with the contact information of the buyer. After a quick and friendly email exchange the the buyer, ownership had changed, Francois had been notified, and best of all…I was paid!

Bargain DomainsWhat is BargainDomains? BargainDomains is one of Francois’ recent creations that takes advantage of automatic domain appraisals performed by one of his other sites, Valuate.com. If your domain appraises for great than $1000 (actually, $500 as of today), you may list your domain for sale at a fraction of that appraised value (5 % to 15%) at BargainDomains – as long as it meets basic requirements such as quality, ccTLD relevancy and others. Once the minimum bid is received, a public 3-day auction is held with the reserve set at the first bid price.

As great as my experience has been with BargainDomains, I was previously disappointed in a mid $xxx sale that involved a fraudulent winner (yet there were other bidders). This domain was once again re-listed, but has received no activity. Fraud is something that any auction site needs to deal with and Francois seems to be taking it quite seriously by requirement micro-payments when initial bids are placed.

If you are looking to move some of your domain portfolio I highly suggest checking out BargainDomains.com!
